Professor of Philosophy听and Department Chair Aron Reppmann 鈥�92, Ph.D., was 蹿颈谤蝉迟听drawn to the field because the expansiveness of the discipline offered space to pursue many interests.听听

And 搁别辫辫尘补苍苍鈥檚 continuing range of interests was听on display during his stints as a featured guest on two podcasts in recent months:听the听听podcast,听produced by the Institute for Christian Studies;听and the听听podcast.听

During the Critical Faith podcast,听Reppmann,听discussed 鈥淎 Lesson in Hilarity,鈥� and shared some advice from St. Augustine. During his conversation with SHWEP,听 which explores 鈥渢he forgotten and rejected story of Western thought,鈥澨�he听offered an overview of early Christian writer听Origen of Alexandria (c. 184 鈥� c. 253 CE).听

His听connections to the podcasts came through different channels.听

In the case of the Critical Faith podcast,听搁别辫辫尘补苍苍鈥檚听appearance stems from his long involvement with ICS, including his current roles of听chair of the Academic Senate and chancellor of the听ICS. 鈥�The podcast is intended as a window into the life and community of ICS, and sometimes includes wider members of the community—not just those who study or teach there,鈥� he said.听鈥�So, when I was going to be in Toronto for a board meeting last fall, the hosts of the podcast arranged for me to be a featured guest.鈥�听The podcast hosts spent the past academic year exploring the theme of 鈥�evil, resistance and judgment,鈥�听and听Reppmann鈥檚听topic was听guided by that theme.听

With the SHWEP podcast, Reppmann met the producer/host听Earl Fontainelle at the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies听conference听last summer. Based on 搁别辫辫尘补苍苍鈥檚 presentation and subsequent discussions, Fontainelle invited Reppmann to be a guest.听听

鈥�In both cases, I found the experience really refreshing and stimulating: a chance to talk to a wide, non-specialist but interested, audience about thinkers and works that I鈥檝e been studying carefully and that really matter to me,鈥� said Reppmann.听
